Welcome to the AI-Native Systems Lab (ANSL) at Sookmyung Women’s University, directed by Prof. Seungjun Shin.

Our lab focuses on bridging the gap between foundational Artificial Intelligence models and practical, real-world systems. We aim to design intelligent systems that are intrinsically optimized for AI workloads, ensuring high efficiency, scalability, and robust performance across various platforms.

🔬 Our Research Areas

At ANSL, we actively conduct research at the intersection of deep learning algorithms and system optimization. Our core research themes include:

• Efficient AI (On-Device AI)
  • We focus on making massive AI models—such as Large Language Models (LLMs) and Video Language Models (VLMs)—lightweight and efficient enough to run on resource-constrained edge environments like mobile NPUs.
• AI for Smart Manufacturing
  • We apply advanced computer vision and deep learning techniques to industrial environments to automate and optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring robust vision systems for quality control in complex production lines.
• AI-Native Communications
  • We explore the next generation of communication systems where AI is embedded at the core. This involves optimizing data transmission, network efficiency, and end-to-end neural codecs using deep learning.
